•T he I FP • H al to n H ill s •T hu rs da y, M ay 2 3, 2 01 3 24 BUSINESS Starting Monday, May 27, Halton Region will begin final paving of the newly-widened intersection of Trafal- gar Road (Regional Road 3) and Steeles Avenue (Regional Road 8) in the Town of Halton Hills. All work is expected to be finished by Tuesday June 4. Lane restrictions will be required to accommodate the paving work. Traffic flow will be reduced to a single lane in all directions between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. In addition, the intersection will be closed to all traffic overnight on Friday May 31 from 9 p.m. until 9 a.m. on Sat- urday June 1. Halton Police officers will be redi- recting traffic when lanes are restrict- ed or closed. Motorists are advised to expect some delays and to use caution when travelling through the area. The reconstruction and widening of Steeles Avenue is part of Building a Better Halton, the Region's infrastruc- ture construction plan for roads, water, wastewater and waste management projects across Halton Region. VPI offers free employment search tips Armstrong Insurance adds to Bike Challenge pot Paul Armstrong Insurance has added $5,000 to the Halton Hills 200,000 KM Community Cycling Challenge's incentive fund, Councillor Jane Fogal announced at Halton Hills council meeting Tuesday. Fogal and the Halton Hills Bicycle Friendly Communites Committee have launched the challenge to get people active in the community through cycling and at the same time, raise funds for the George- town Hospital. Residents, regardless of age and ability, are urged to ride their bicycles as much as possible during the 2013 cycling season and submit their achievements to a website designed especially for the Chal- lenge, www.bikechallenge.ca. When 100,000 kms is reached, George- town Canadian Tire will donate $20,000 to the Hospital. When 200,000 km is reached, Peter Gilgan Foundation/Mattamy Homes will donate $20,000. Now Armstrong Insur- ance will donate $5,000, matched by the Gilgan Foundation. Total community re- ward-- $50,000 for the Hospital. As yesterday afternoon, the Challenge had 177 participants who have cycled 24,470 kms. Bike To Work Day People are encouraged to ride their bikes to work on Monday, May 27. The Town will celebrate by hosting a noon hour bike ride departing from the Civic Centre at 12 p.m. and follow a ride along trails and through quiet neighbourhoods to the Georgetown Fairgrounds where there will be a picnic lunch.
