The 22-year-old senior midfi elder will see his college career come to an end one way or another this weekend in the City of Brotherly Love as the fourth-ranked Pioneers have made the NCAA's Final Four for the second time in three years, this time at Lincoln Fi- nancial Field in Philadelphia. They'll take on the top-seeded Syra- cuse Orange in one of Saturday's semi- fi nals at 5 p.m. in a contest broadcast in the U.S. on ESPN2. The Duke Blue Devils face the Big Red of Cornell in the other semifi nal. Flint had three assists for Denver in last Sunday's miraculous comeback from six goals down against North Car- olina as the Pioneers prevailed 12-11 in the national quarterfi nals at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Denver advanced to the Final Four in 2011 before losing to Virginia 14-8 and lost by one goal in last year's quar- terfi nals to eventual NCAA-champion Loyola. Flint, a former Halton Hills Jr. B Bulldog and Brampton Jr. A Excelsior, is expected to be among the top picks in the National Lacrosse League draft in September. Georgetown's Linda (left) and daughter Laurie Klarner were members of the Ice Precise synchronized skating team that recently capped off a perfect season by earning gold medals in their division at the Canadian Adult Figure Skating Championships in Kamloops, B.C. Em- ploying a sailors' theme in their routines, the 22-member Ice Precise group accu- mulated 32.43 points from the judges to edge past the runners-up from Thed- ford, Ont. to take top spot for the sec- ond year in a row and third time in fi ve years. This was Laurie's fi rst national title with Ice Precise, while Linda has been with the team since it began 13 years ago. The team won four other competi- tions this season.
