Carefree Living, Country Views In 2007, we celebrated our affection for all things "Georgetown". Everyone enjoyed themselves and now it is time to come "home" again! In seven weeks' time (July 26-28), we will host Homecoming 2013. We are go- ing to celebrate how much we love this town and, at the same time, say a fond farewell to the place where many of our best memories were made....the Memo- rial Arena. It is coming down this fall to make room for more folk who want to live here. You know that we just HAD to sneak in one more fun time there...so this is it! Friday night is a wine and cheese at the Arena, featuring a slide show of Georgetown, then and now. We'll have a new video about the arena, including a brand new song "Memorial Arena" by Neil Cotton. There will be a presentation by Halton Hills Arena Users Group, with skits about times past at the arena. You know you're in trouble when the Arena Users Group is in charge of something cultural! Saturday night will be a dance attend- ed by 1,000 people, featuring three bands: The Larry Melton Band, Neil Cotton and Hawk's Nest and Double Exposure. This is going to be a night to remember! Sunday is the big sleep in, followed by a trip down Memory Lane (aka Down- town Georgetown) led by local historian Mark Rowe, followed by a tour of the new multi-million dollar Georgetown Library. Some of you didn't spend a lot of time at the library during your youth and we know that others of you mostly saw Main Street from your car as you "did the loop" from the plaza to downtown and back again. Now's your chance to learn and enjoy! So, if you haven't signed up al- ready, see: www. Georgetownhomecom- ing.com or pickup your registration form at JV Clothing, Silvercreek Café, George- town Library, Acton Library, Gellert Cen- tre, Hungry Hollow Smokehouse or the Georgetown Seniors Centre. Registration is booming and we are 68 per cent sold as of today. So...don't be disappointed and register right now. If you have special memories of times spend at the Memorial Arena, email them to lfraser@fraserdirect.ca and we will print a selection of them.
