"Brenda took on one of her big- gest volunteer challenges when she agreed to chair the 'Per Chance to Dream' capital campaign in 2011 to raise funds for the Halton Hills Library and Cultural Centre. Under her direction and tireless drive, the campaign has raised over $1 million to date," said Penrice. Sisnett said that project has been a dynamic one. "The library is free so everybody should go there and see it, use it. When I see the programs there, it's amazing," said Sisnett. "I volunteer because I enjoy it and want to make sure that Georgetown is a great place to live, work and raise a family," said Sisnett. Citizen of the Year Awards dinner ticket info OPP seek witnesses to man's death Halton District School Board is considering including extreme cold temperatures in its pro- cedures with the possibility it could result in the limitation or cancellation of on and off-site school activities. Trustees voted unanimously at Wednesday's board meeting to investigate the possible inclu- sion of extreme cold/wind chill in the board's Inclement Weather Administrative Procedures. The results of a report, to be conducted by the education director's office, are to come back to the board by the end of April. A motion brought forward at Wednesday's meeting by Hal- ton Hills trustee Alice Strachan stated the board has a respon- sibility for the safety and wel- fare of students and staff dur- ing school hours, and that on certain occasions it can decide to close schools due to inclement weather. In winter, schools can be closed for things like heavy snowfalls. The Halton public board's current procedures for bad weather are used to decide whether to close schools. The board currently considers weather and road reports, weather predictions and informa- tion from local police departments and bus op- erators on road conditions. However, it does not consider extreme cold. See NOTIFICATION, pg. 10 HDSB may add extreme temps to weather protocol By TIM WHITNELL Metroland Media Group ALICE STRACHAN
