The Ward 2 councillor, who was first elected to the post in 2000, made the an- nouncement at the Halton Hills Council meeting. She said she would remain in the job until Nov. 30. "After that, I leave you in the good hands of Mayor Rick Bonnette and councillors Clark Somerville and Bryan Lewis," said Robson. "I have great faith that in the meantime other worthwhile candidates will emerge to serve you," she said. The next municipal election is Oct. 27. "Thank you for allowing me to serve what will have been 14 years," Robson said, followed by applause from the audience. She said her decision had been in the works for the past two years, and she just finalized it 12 days ago. Mayor Rick Bonnette said Robson's announcement came as a "complete sur- prise." He said she "has so much energy around the table." "I can't say enough about your humour that you've brought to the table and the passion you have for the rural community, particularly Glen Williams," said Bonnette. "We wish you nothing but the best of luck and I'm sure we'll hear more from you in the months ahead. Thank you for your 14 years on Council." In an interview, Robson named a couple things she was most proud of during her time as councillor. "The environmental features we were able to get incorporated into Meadows in the Glen led us to be the first Low Impact De- velopment in the entire Credit River water- shed," she said. "We beat the municipalities in Peel on that score and they are now taking up our lead." She's also proud of the "re- development of Wildwood Rd. to make it more village friendly." Robson made the motion at Council to have maximum village input into that project through the formation of a steering committee. She said she's looking forward now to having "more time to hug my dog." "I've enjoyed my time on Council, but I will be living my life now in a leash-free zone."
