This is the backdrop for the dramatic presentation, Choose Joy. Georgetown Alliance Church, 290 Main St. S. is hosting this event at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 28. Choose Joy is a one-man theatrical pre- sentation based on the New Testament book of Philippians. Actor, David Gast, has experienced five different types of cancer - thyroid, lung, skin, prostate and kidney. In his journey he has endured multiple sur- geries, radiation and chemotherapy. In this dramatic presentation, Gast pow- erfully portrays the apostle Paul. Late in life, the apostle Paul was being held in chains in Rome in a house that he was required to rent for himself. Timothy, his spiritual son, was with him as well as Epaphroditus who had brought Paul a gift from the church at Philippi. After recovering from a serious illness, Epaphroditus was ready to return to Philippi so Paul composed a letter to the Philippians for him to take to back to them. The apostle Paul had already endured countless tough challenges including beatings, stoning and imprisonment. Yet in this letter he was able to "choose joy" and rise above his circumstances. Joining Gast will be his wife Sharon, who will introduce his recently published book, Gaining Perspective through Cancer. At the end of the presentation both David and Sharon will showcase their musical talents in a mini concert. There is no admission charge to at- tend the concert and no offering will be taken.
