We encourage everyone in businesses, institutions and schools to please go outside and clean-up for 22-Minutes! • Halton Hills schools now have a record of four (4) straight years of 100% participation! But instead of wedding gowns, the girls will be choosing a dress to wear to the prom or their Grade 8 graduation from the selection of gently used ones that Acton resident Laura Nunn has col- lected for the "Yes to the Dress" event she's organized. Nunn said the idea "came through hearing girls talk about how expensive prom can get, with tickets, dresses, hair, accessories, etcetera" "For some families this makes prom either very difficult to afford, or simply not an option for their children," she said. The goal of the program is to "help ease the financial burden" by provid- ing free, lightly used dresses (both long and short), shoes and accessories. So far nearly 120 dresses have come in and Nunn is hoping more will arrive. The girls will be able to browse for their dress at two shopping nights at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 365 Queen St. in Acton on Tuesday, April 15 & 29 from 7-8:30 p.m. All dresses and accessories are free, but Nunn said they will be collecting donations for the food bank if anyone wishes to give. Nunn came up with the idea for the program last year, but there wasn't enough time to get it off the ground be- fore prom season hit. Her husband Andrew, a youth pastor at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, has been helping her organize the event, and has been getting the word out. Anyone who has a dress or accesso- ries to donate is asked to drop them off at the church between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. For more informa- tion, call the church at 519-853-2121.
