Continued from pg. 1 There will be four more English Second Language (ESL) elementary teachers added ($340,000). The aver- age caseload of an ESL teacher is 63 pupils. Slightly more than four new secondary school Eng- lish Second Language teaching positions also will be added ($374,400). The issue of staffing prompted Oakville trustee Don Vrooman to suggest that consideration should be given to the sharing of personnel in some schools that have just a principal and no other senior administrative support staff. Education Director David Euale said there is always a long wish list of items related to the board's overall budget, but he did say the issue raised by Vrooman has been discussed and will likely come to the board for further talk at budget time. Board hires more staff The Scout/Guide/Beth El Groups Annual Food Drive for Acton Foodshare will happen this Saturday, April 12. This annual food drive has been going on since the Food- share opened in 1990. Donations of food will be picked up in Acton and Lime- house starting about 9 a.m. and cash donations will also be ac- cepted-- charitable donation tax receipts will be given for dona- tions of $20 and over after the event. Donors are requested to supply their name and address. An up-to-date list of most needed items can be found on the food bank website, www.ac- tonfoodshare.com If your donation is not picked up by 1 p.m., please call the food bank at 519-853-0457 to make arrangements for pick-up or bring your donation to the food bank on Tuesday, April 15 be- tween 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. It would be appreciated if do- nors would check the best before dates on food items before do- nating. High school students (to gain community volunteer hours) and others wishing to volunteer to sort food on the morning of April 12 can contact the food bank to make arrangements.
