GSC volunteer Collins passes Longtime Georgetown Soccer Club volunteer Eustace Collins was remem- bered this week as someone who nev- er had to be asked twice when it came to supporting the local youth athletics organization. Collins died at his home in Georgetown last Thursday in his 64th year. A manager in the Town of Halton Hills finance & adminstra- tion department for the past dozen years, Collins was active on many fronts with the GSC since 1995, in- cluding a coach for several teams and a skills instructor/ mentor coach. He held numerous roles with the GSC since joining the board of direc- tors in 1999, as registrar, board mem- ber and was the keen match observer who'd usually be found sitting at the picnic table under the large willow tree in Cedarvale Park, even though he didn't have a child active in soccer at the time. In 2012, the native of St. Kitts was named as one of three Ontario Soccer Association Club Excellence Volun- teer of the Year Award recipients. He also led Georgetown's under-17 girls' Mustangs to the South Region Soccer League championship in 2008. Collins is survived by wife Christa- belle of 37 years and children Sean, Marie and Laura, along with mother Irene Collins and siblings Clement, Sonia and Leighton. Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. (today) Thursday at J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home and a celebration of Eustace's life will follow at 11 a.m. The Halton Hills minor peewee A Thunder earned the Tri-County Minor Hockey League championship for its division with a three-game sweep of Owen Sound.
