Description
We live in a quiet part of town across from a park where lots of families walk with their dogs. Over the years, we've gotten to know most of them (by name) but this year is different...so many new faces, new puppies, all coming by! It's great! One day on a long walk, we saw beautifully painted rocks on the path with lovely messages of hope & encouragement, etc. during a time when we all need some uplifting. We decided to do something a little different with all the rocks in our corner garden. We offered to paint a personal rock for each dog name posted on the sign we made. Well....to our pleasant surprise, the idea took off. Each day we'd check our sign for any new names added. Then we hand selected a rock from our property and customized it for each new dog name. Before we knew it, we had almost 60 painted rocks in the garden. We met so many new people that came from other neighbourhoods as they had heard about our little venture. In the end we personally donated $5 for each dog name to the local food bank...$300 in total. It was a great experience and we still see people stop by to read the names in our “good dog garden”.
