Lynn looked forward to their visits because they were so caring, so attentive. We'd joke and laugh. They were so compassionate. The cruiser was a big hit with both children and adults who had the op- portunity to kick the tires and activate the emergency lights and sirens. Police services across Ontario have been moving to black and white vehi- cles to provide greater visibility and in- stant recognition of marked police ve- hicles normally used for general duty and specialized enforcement. "The black and white cruisers pro- vide a distinctive presence for our fleet and will enhance the Service's efforts towards traffic safety, increased com- munity presence and overall commu- nity safety," said Sgt. Chantal Corner. "The implementation plan will involve the rebranding of patrol vehicles pur- chased in 2014 and onward." It will cost police $5,500 over three to four years as the 110-police vehicle fleet is gradually replaced. That's an an- nual cost hike from $1,375 to $1,833. Halton Regional Police Service cruisers get a new look. Halton Police unveils new cruiser Halton residents will be able to dis- pose of their household documents safely and securely Saturday, May 24 at a commu- nity Shred-it event. The event between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. is offered by Crime Stop- pers of Halton in partnership with Halton Regional Police Service and Shred-it. Identity theft costs Canadians more than $10 billion each year and one way people can protect themselves from having their documents fall into the wrong hands is to shred them. There will be two locations in Hal- ton-- Milton Mall (55 Ontario St. Milton) and Appleby Arena (1201 Appleby Line Burling- ton). The cost is $5 per bag, $10 per banker's box and $15 for a large box. All proceeds will go to support the local Crime Stoppers of Halton pro- gram. Shred-it event in Milton on May 24
