Saturday Brunch at Latitude & the Farmers Market Georgetown District High School is hosting its Rebel Relay for Life at the- school on Friday, June 6 from 7 p.m. until Saturday, June 7 at 7 a.m. More than 300 students are partici- pating with a goal to raise $20,000. Here are just a few ways funds raised from Relay For Life is making an impact: Research: In 2012, there were 25 findings supported by Canadian Can- cer Society research that directly im- pacted practice (like guidelines for doctors), policy (like bans on carcino- genic products) and program delivery (like workplace health programs) for people living with cancer. Support: In 2013, volunteer drivers in Ontario drove 12 million kilometres, taking more than 15,500 cancer pa- tients to treatment and cancer-related appointments, a distance equal to driv- ing around the world 300 times. Prevention: On Oct. 9, 2013 Ontar- io passed Bill 30, the Skin Cancer Pre- vention Act, which regulates the selling and marketing of tanning services and will restrict tanning salons from selling their services to youth under age 18.
