The Town of Halton Hills will be say- ing "thanks a latte" during its Communi- ty Volunteer Recognition event in June. The theme for the evening is based on a coffee house and features the slogan, "thanks a latte." All community groups and their vol- unteers will be thanked and recognized for the special role they play each day through volunteering in our community. In 2001, the Community Volunteer Recognition event was established in celebration of the year of the volunteer. The event fosters a healthy community by "encouraging and promoting com- munity volunteerism." One of the ways the Town of Halton Hills embraces its volunteers is through this community-wide recognition event every four years-- once every Council term. Each Community Volunteer Recogni- tion event is planned and executed by a planning committee comprised of Coun- cil representatives, community agencies, residents, youth and Town staff. This year's event will be held on Tuesday, June 10, at the Gellert Community Centre, 10241 Eighth Line, from 6-8 p.m. The evening will include live music, desserts and specialty coffee and tea. "It's the energy and passion of our vol- unteers that demonstrates 'Small Town Living at Its Best,'" said Mayor Rick Bonnette. The event is open to all community volunteers. To RSVP, send a confirma- tion email to communityvolunteer- event@haltonhills.ca There will be a brief formal program, led by Mayor Bonnette at the beginning of the evening; and the balance of the evening will be informal and similar to a coffee house venue. The reception will showcase volun- teers in action through a collection of photographs that have been submitted by organizations. Town to 'Thank A Latte' volunteers
