Continued from pg. 1 This year the show is being man- aged by local business people Jamie Watt and Chris Crane. "New blood into an old show," says Watt. "There has been a huge resur- gence of interest in cars, vendors and people." This year's event has a combination of tried and true favorites and some new entertainment. Time Trip is a live band that will be supplying music and Dan Wagstaff is Master of Ceremonies. The Kids Korner returns to pro- vide fun and activities for kids big and small. Among the special attractions this year is a new C7 Corvette display pre- sented by Da Silva Motorsports. People are urged to bring out their classic cars. Car gates open at 7:30 a.m. and it's open to the public at 8:30 a.m. Classics Against Cancer is under new management With over 25 years of history to choose from, it'll be hard to narrow notable Classics Against Cancer down to just a few moments. I believe this is merely a thumbnail sketch. Longtime participants as well as occasional visitors probably have their own special moments they relish. Here are some selected memories from the past. Some are from long ago and far away. Some are more recent. When the show started, Georgetown was different. The town has grown and prospered. The Classics against Cancer show committee members past and present are proud to been a part of the ride. The first show in 1988: 135 cars participated. It's been said before, the show started from humble beginnings as a 'Strawberry Social' with classi- cal music and a group of classic cars combined. It didn't turn out that way. Neil Young opted to have the Classics against Cancer show held separately. Under the Big Tent: As the show grew, some special exhibits were set up as draws to attract attention. Some re- ally beautiful 1920s, 1930 and post war classics were showcased under a cou- ple of tents as exhibition vehicles. They usually were outstanding examples of a particular marquee or model demon- strating a particular era in history. See MOMENTS, pg. 3 Notable CAC moments By PATRICK SMITH Classics Against Cancer
