Kyoshi Oka, Halton's Director of Water Services, said the break in a 300 mm PVC pipe occurred shortly before 7 p.m. Friday causing water to bubble up from below the road surface. Oka said the entire water main rup- tured, resulting in quite a bit of water being released which "made for a little bit of a spectacle." Crews were on site about 7:20 p.m. and shut off the water to do the repairs. Damage was mainly confined to the intersection and the water main was back in service by 7 a.m. Saturday when the affected residents had their water restored. The final restoration of the road is set for Thursday. Oka said they are not sure what caused the water main break. Water main break impacts about 100 homes Halton Region crews worked through the night to fix a water main break last Friday. Photo by Alex Docker Shortly after noon last Sunday, an out-of-control vehicle crashed into a home at the roundabout intersection of Danby Rd. and Barber Dr. in Georgetown, Halton Police said in a press release Sunday afternoon. The collision caused minimal damage to the home, but did result in a small fire and the fracture of a natural gas line. Officials quickly re- solved any safety concerns attributed to the fire and gas leak, police say. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were transported to hospital with minor injuries, police said. An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
