HondaOntario.com Ontario Honda Dealers Nashville comes to Terra Cotta The Source of the Song Concert series is launching a rare summertime show on Friday night, Aug. 8 at the Terra Cotta Community Centre. The show will feature three special guests: Nashville based hit songwriter Benita Hill, Producer/Guitarist and Song- writer J.K. Gulley, and artist Mati Haskell. "We had the opportunity to put a show together for these three incredibly talent- ed performers," says Bruce Madole, the show's host and co-producer. "Benita Hill was going to be in Canada, and she want- ed to do something together with J.K. Gulley and Mati Haskell. So although we don't usually put on these shows during the summer months, this was too good an opportunity to miss." Nashville songwriter Benita Hill is a jazz-fluent writer and performer whose songs have spanned multiple genres, becoming hits for artists such as Garth Brooks, Isaac Hayes, Crystal Gayle, and even the Glen Miller Orchestra, which in- cludes three Benita Hill compositions in its standard repertoire. A cancer survivor and documentary filmmaker, Hill is the author and feature performer in her own documentary, The Healing Power of a Song. J.K. Gulley was a guest performer at the very first Source of the Song concert, over a decade ago, and he has had a stel- lar list of accomplishments as a producer, a songwriter, and a fabulous guitarist. (You might even have seen him in a re- cent Tylenol commercial.) "J.K. is an old friend and musical col- laborator of mine," says Madole. "We've written some great songs together." Haskell is a performing artist in the Americana and Blues genres who has been influenced heavily by the Motown, Blues and Gospel genres. She has per- formed at the Orangeville and Kitchener jazz and blues festivals, among others, and also made a guest appearance at the very first Source of the Song show. Her debut album was recorded with a stellar assembly of world-class talents, both music and backing vocals, and re- ceived wide acclaim. With a second recording project un- der way, Madole had been looking for an opportunity to hear more of her perfor- mances. Source of the Song 28 takes place Fri- day, Aug. 8 from 8 p.m. in the Terra Cotta Community Centre at 18 High Street, Ter- ra Cotta, and the doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available in Glen Williams at Reeve and Clarke Fine Books, (open Thursday - Sunday, 11 to 5 p.m., at 521 Main Street in Glen Williams), or by con- tacting co-producers Bruce or Marlene Madole at 905-459-9753 (or via email at brucemadole@sympatico.ca). Tickets are $20.
