Game one was played Wednesday night at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena, with game two of the best-of-5 matchup set for the Alcott Arena Friday at 8 p.m. Halton Hills advanced to the league finals with an 11-10 double-overtime vic- tory Friday night in Akwesasne over the Indians to complete the series sweep 3-0 and clinch the newly named Colby Mi- chael Hancock Memorial Eastern Confer- ence Memorial Trophy. Veteran forward Seth Laidlaw notched the winning goal just six seconds into the second OT period after his Bulldogs erased a 10-6 deficit with nine minutes left in the third period to force extra time. The Rebels defeated Orangeville 15-4 Sunday night to clinch the West Confer- ence title with a 3-1 series win, although the Northmen did hand Six Nations its first loss of the year at the ILA or any- where else. "They have a winning atmosphere in Six Nations and we know what they have accomplished, but as a team we feel we match up well against anyone we play when we focus on what we do well," said Bulldogs' head coach Blaine McCauley. Game three of the league champion- ship series is slated for Six Nations Sun- day at 7 p.m., with game four Tuesday in Georgetown at 8 p.m. Cycle nation descended on the small town of Terra Cotta in Caledon from cycling clubs from across the province for the 10th annual Dimpfilmeier Le Tour de Terra Cotta bike race on Monday. More than 450 cyclists took part in this year's races spanning numer- ous age groups ranging from beginners to elite riders. In all, six divisions raced the track over four separate distances during the daylong event as the roads that made up the track were shut down to accommodate them. Guelph's Ryan Roth was the winner of the men's 104.16-km elite road race in a time of two hours, 34 minutes and 16 sec- onds, about 20 seconds ahead of the runner-up. Saskia Kowalchuk of Hamilton was the fastest female finisher in the elite road event in 2:46:45. The top-seeded Tide had defeated the Stallions during the regular season, but fell behind early against the East Conference's second-place team. An electrifying kickoff return in the final seconds of the opening half by Georgetown's Dondre Palma cut into the Stallions' lead and the Tide carried the momentum out of the intermssion. Quarterback Tanner Gaskill-Cadwal- lader, Chris Buckley and Dayvon Love added major scores in the second half.
