The 39-year-old Georgetown man recently made his 101st donation. "It's a good community service," said Stiles. "It's only one hour ever two months." He decided to become a blood do- nor at the age of 17 after hearing a speaker at his high school talk about the need for donors. He's been donat- ing it every couple of months since. "It's not a big deal. I never have any adverse effects afterward, it's something your body replaces any- way," he said. Charlene Goodwin of Canadian Blood Services said each year they honour their milestone donors for making 50, 75, 100, 150, 200 and 300 blood donations to date. "This past year, we awarded more than 9,500 donors thanking them for their dedication to Canada's blood system," said Goodwin. She said half of all Canadians have either needed blood themselves, or have had a family member or friend who needed blood. "Our regular donors should all be extremely proud of the contribution they have made to the many lives they have saved. The commitment of our milestone donors helps us build a sustainable blood program and helps to raise awareness for our cause, so that new donors are attract- ed to follow in their footsteps," said Goodwin. Upcoming Canadian Blood Ser- vices blood donor clinics are (call for appointment 1-888-236-6283). • Monday, Sept. 8, 3-8 p.m. at Ma- ple Ave. Baptist Church • Monday, Sept. 22, 4-8 p.m. at the Acton Arena & Community Centre.
