Planetariums are marvelous places, where you get the opportunity to see, hear and learn so much about not just our planet but the uni- verse as well. Mountainview Residence is opening this up to the com- munity so all can enjoy for sig- nificantly less than the cost of visiting a "real" Planetarium. A dome will be coming to Moun- tainview Residence and plans are to set it up in the activity room. This dome is 16 feet in diameter and 10.5 feet in height and seats approximately 30. The cost is $5. For more information and to reserve your time slot please contact Mountainview Resi- dence activity room at 905-877-1828 ext. 1512. Presenters Peter McMahon (space journal- ist and children's author) and Rick Stankiwicz (accomplished astrophotographer and ama- teur astronomer) will deliver exclusive, cus- tom-tailored shows under the dome not avail- able at any other facility in Canada, based on decades of experience presenting astronomy programming to large audiences across the country. Blast off, leaving Earth in a modern rocket launch to the Inter- national Space Station-- a space- walking tour of history's largest orbital outpost (and Canada's contribution), depart Earth's orbit for a light-speed tour of the plan- ets, moons, asteroids, comets and other members of ou solar system, depart the solar system for a tour of our local stellar neighborhood, touring the Orion Arm of the Milky Way, then seeing our entire galaxy from the outside then return to home on Earth and a display of the Northern Lights (and possibly a meteor shower).
