Hundreds of people crammed into coun- cil chambers Sept. 8 to hear a planning staff recommendation rejecting a Brampton Brick application to rezone a 34.9-hectare section of land at Old Pinecrest Rd. and Winston Churchill Blvd. along the Brampton-Norval border. In a nutshell, the planning report deter- mined that a quarry operation in the north end is not an ideal fit with Brampton's urban development scheme. The matter will now be put to a vote at Brampton city council. "The proposal here is to put a quarry on the edge of your urban area. That, simply, makes absolutely no planning sense," said Scott Snider, the lawyer representing the North West Brampton Landowners' Group. The propsoal will be decided at a future Ontario Municipal Board hearing. For complete story, go to www.theifp.ca Brampton Comm. rejects Norval quarry proposal By PETER CRISCIONE Metroland Media Group
