I am sure many people found the speakers and topics very interesting. Now is the time to sign up for the Active Living programs. We will have Bone Builder (10-week course), T'ai Chi (12-week course), Easy Does it, (4-week) a Gentle Exercise program. Let's Get Active is designed for people to try a taste of many different active living programs. You can enjoy a wide assortment of fitness activities while having fun. If you are a member of the Centre you receive a reduction in price on the programs offered. Don't forget there are a variety of Aquafit programs also offered at the Acton Indoor pool. Our Open House Week gives everyone the opportunity to try the various pro- grams for FREE. Next week we will be enjoying golf and a delicious lunch at Blue Springs after playing nine holes on the Acad- emy course. Four more leaves joined the 198 leaves at present on our Looking to the Future trees. One in memory of Wes Storey, one in memory of Tracey Jubinville (Pat Pat- terson's daughter) and one in memory of Carmen Bissonnette placed there by members of the Centre. There was one placed in memory of Amy Sloan from the Leathertown Red Hats Lassies. Each leaf represents a donation of $50, so to date we have raised $10,100. Thank you everyone who has contributed in the past to celebrate a special occasion or in memory of a friend or family member. They make a perfect background to our lovely café area. The money collect- ed has helped considerably with reno- vations to our Centre, and we thank ev- eryone who has contributed over many years to help bring this dream to fruition. If you were born in July, August or September, the program committee are celebrating your birthday on Tuesday, Sept. 23. If your date of birth was on your membership application you will receive a call inviting you and a guest to the cel- ebration the week before the event. Time running out to buy Lottery tickets Just another three weeks before we have our first Lottery draw (Oct. 3). I know some people like to leave pur- chasing their ticket until the last mo- ment. In this case that might be a bit risky. We are likely to be sold out. Get in touch with a board member or drop into Reception and get your chance to win some money! We can all use a little spare cash in our pockets. We have had a very successful Open House week. Many have dropped in to take part in some of the programs. I hope you found something that inter- ests you. Regular programming begins the week of Sept. 15. Mondays, beginning Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. we are offering Evening Cribbage. There is a drop-in fee of $2/member or $4/non-member. Conversational French begins Tues- day, Sept. 16 and runs for 13 weeks. Time for the class is 10-11 a.m. If you are interested please register at Reception. Cost is $65 per member. Non-member is $75. A minimum of 10 participants is necessary for the class to continue. If you wish to take up Conversational Spanish you have a choice of a day- time class on Fridays, 10-11a.m. or an evening class on Tuesdays, 6:30-8 p.m. Either class has a $65 member or $75 non-member fee. Sign up and pay at Reception. Again there needs to be 10 participants. To the artists reading this, watch for details on a series of art lectures and hands-on learning with a variety of art- ists and techniques. This program is running in partnership with the Library and is free of charge and open to the public. Dates are Sept.17, Oct. 15, Nov. 12, and Dec. 10. Register with Staff or call 905-877-6444. Trips are getting filled up. Don't be left behind. By FLORENCE RIEHL Hillsview Active Living Centre Georgetown By JULIE CONROY Hillsview Active Living Centre Acton Hillsview Active Living Centres
