The fair returns on Friday, Satur- day and Sunday (Sept. 19-21) to Prospect Park. "We look forward to providing entertain- ment for the whole family," said Fair Presi- dent Kathryn Lynch. "Our theme is Chocolate 101 -- An Acton a'Fair, so new this year we have added chocolate bar bingo for families to play… with prizes in chocolate bars." She added Jr. Fair Board members will be selling the chocolate bars. "We have re-introduced our junior board program, and about 12 youth in our community are involved in fair planning," Lynch said. "That's something we're re- ally excited about because they are our future." Also new this year for families and youth is Kids' Quest, a scaven- ger hunt type game that will allow people to explore the fair and win prizes at the same time. "It's one way we are promoting families do- ing things together," said Lynch, who added that the popular events such as the Miss Acton Fall Fair contest and truck pull are returing. On Friday, it's Education Day for the school kids only, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the gates open- ing to the public at 4 p.m. The Heavy Horse Pull begins at 7 p.m. with the Miss Acton Fall Fair Pageant and Official Opening of the Fair at 8 p.m. On Saturday, the gates open to the public at 8 a.m. with the midway opening at 11 a.m. The poultry show is at 9 a.m., beef cattle show, 10:30 a.m., the baby show, 10:30 a.m. Giant Tiger is the sponsor for the parade, which gets under way at noon, and wends its way through- out downtown Acton to the Fairgrounds. The Light Horse Show also starts at noon, as does the horseshoe pitching. At 1 p.m. the Gordon Lightfoot Tribute Band featuring John Stinson takes the stage inside the Dufferent Centre, while between 2-5 p.m. the Itchy Scratchy Band performs at the Spot in the Park. Chris Golden gives a hip hop performance in the Dufferin Centre at 4 p.m. and at 8 p.m. Aaron Tessis, performs a Trib- ute to Elvis and His Inspirations. On Sunday, the gates open at 8 a.m. with a number of different competitions during the day, chick- en, dairy cattle, highway truck pull, dog/horse barrel racing, antique tractor pull, 4-H goat show, pet show, 4X4 truck pull and pedal tractor pull. Meet Vladimir Koloff in the Poultry Tent at 10 a.m. and the Puslinch Fiddle Orchestra in the Dufferin Centre at 1 p.m. Admission prices are $9 adults; $8 youth (13-17 and seniors; $4 children (5-12) and chil- dren under 5 free.
