I am running to effectively manage growth while relent- lessly squeezing every penny of our tax dollars. Our com- munity is about to face unprec- edented growth, taxing our current infrastructures to their design capabilities. Innovative, simple and economical ideas like synchronized traffic lights will yield immediate efficiencies and ease commuter gridlock. With tax revenues unlikely to increase sufficiently to fund all our wants, how we spend will dictate how well we do with funding our needs. As your representative, I will share my skills to reduce our tax burden and increase efficiencies. I am running for town council be- cause I care about the people and places that make this community so special. I was born, raised, live and work in this region. I have seen it change signifi- cantly over the past 10 years and want to be a part of the process that is go- ing to see Halton Hills grow. I think the people deserve a fresh voice on council, who has the courage to ask the questions that need to be asked and carry out deci- sions once they are made. I have been extremely disappointed in many of our elected officials throughout Canada re- cently. To serve as an elected official is an honour and I aim to bring that ideal with me if elected. I am running to continue to provide effective representation for the residents of Ward 3, to listen to their voices and opin- ions, and to make sound deci- sions based on consultation with residents and the best available information. I have a proven track record of responsible service to my constituents. My background in health care gives me a perspec- tive on the importance of living in a healthy, stable community. I am a strong advocate for all residents, but especially those who need as- sistance to solve their problems. It is a privilege to have served as a local Councillor for Ward 3 for the past 20 years. I ask for your support on October 27th. As a longtime Ward 3 resident, living and working in Halton Hills, I am deeply concerned with the direction and scale of the develop- ment coming to our beautiful little town. This past year, we were lucky enough to become parents to our beautiful son; with that, I decided the time had come to stand up and be counted. With our son's arrival, we became members of a multi- generational home, as we had both a young child and a widowed senior in our home. I decided that I had to commit to ensuring that George- town stayed the kind of community where we'd want to raise our son. As well, I wanted to make sure that our town was able to provide ser- vices and supports to our seniors, who worked so hard to build this community. I believe we can do this while holding the line on, or even cutting, property taxes. I am a lifelong resident of Ward 3 and very passionate about six key issues. Fair Trade-- In 2009 and 2014 I supported motions helping Halton Hills industry push back against American protectionism. Our Capital Building Projects-- (fire stations, libraries, arenas and an Operations Cen- tre) which will serve residents for decades. Our community's small rural character-- I will monitor 'Vision Georgetown' from a Ward 3 perspective to help co-ordinate public input into our new 1,000 acres. Rail- roads--Many freight trains carrying dan- gerous goods pass through Halton Hills. I encourage initiatives to 'keep trains on their tracks'. I support our 'Pre Plan" for a potential rail disaster. The GO/Metrolinx/CN expansion must minimize intrusions upon residents living in the construction areas. Advocating on behalf of seniors-- recently we expanded the Senior Centre and its parking. Protecting our environment--I have served on and will seek to continue working with environmental committees. I am running for Council rep- resenting Ward 3 because I think Halton Hills is one of the best places in the world to live and I want to be actively involved in ensuring it remains that way for future genera- tions. Each year it becomes a bigger challenge to preserve the unique identity of Halton Hills, that brought all of our families here, as the Town and Region grow exponentially. It is an equal challenge to economically support the associated growth in town facilities and management in a financially sustainable way. As a young father I want to ensure our children enjoy the same wonderful childhood I did here, by preserving the Town's identity. As an experi- enced Management professional, I believe I can help guide the town in this direction in a feasible way as a member of Council.
