Ward 4 candidates (elect two) answer: Why am I running? Stop the gravy train and keep taxes in check. To serve one's community and not one's self. To improve services both for se- niors and youth. Noel Duignan Age: 65 Occupation: Self-employed Previous elected experience: Former MPP for Halton Hills and Parliamentary Assistant to the Min- istry Consumer and Commercial Relations I entered public life with a goal to help the Town balance the different perspectives be- tween town and country residents, and long- time residents with new arrivals. I continue to believe this balance is important. I believe we have a wonderful town and country feel, and are becoming unique in that regard, in the Re- gion, and greater Toronto area in general… I have worked in several business sectors for 40 years, including technology, manufacturing and construction. I am retired from the private sector, and able to dedicate full time to Coun- cil obligations. I wish to use my experience to continue forwarding requests and opinions of my constituents at Council. I have enjoyed the many challenges of public life and hope to con- tinue to serve… I am a fourth generation resident of the Town of Halton Hills. My hobby is beekeeping. It allows me to spend time outdoors, pursuing an environmentally-friendly interest. Bob Inglis Age: 60 Occupation: Ward 4 Halton Hills councillor Previous elected experience: Elect- ed to Halton Hills Council in 1997. Have served five consecutive terms (17 year), representing the interests of Ward 4 at Council. I am seeking re-election to Council because I continue to offer a special perspective and energy. The only new face on Council following the last election, I brought fresh business skills, government knowledge and groundbreaking volunteer efforts in creat- ing legacies which live on. (Examples are the founding of the United Way, Dominion Seed- house Garden and Devereaux House.) Having served four years, my skill set now includes an even better understanding of how things get done. Indeed, I have contributed to community projects such as the Library and Cultural Centre fundraising campaign, the Li- brary Board, Economic Development Commit- tee and Youth Needs Study, among others. I continue to look at issues from a long view rather than short, and believe in "thinking globally while acting locally". Check out annlawlor.ca for more details. My commitment and track record are solid in making our Town a better place to live. In 2010, I ran as a candidate for Ward 4. It was my first time out, and I'd like to thank everyone who came out to show their support and voted. Four years have come and gone: Some things have changed; some haven't. As a longtime resident, my family and I have seen some concerning signs. We have noticed that our property taxes have in- creased, while our quality of life has dimin- ished, and we feel that Georgetown needs to be protected and preserved. As your Ward 4 councillor, I will compli- ment, enhance, and deliver a strong voice to council on your behalf.
