Professional Arts Building 99 Sinclair Ave., Suite 210, Georgetown 905-873-6642 Serving the community of Halton Hills and surrounding areas since 1992 The Georgetown Part 1 Although hearing instrument technology has greatly improved over the years, the fact still remains that nothing can mimic the human ear. Due to the damage in your ears that is causing hearing loss, you will never be able to hear as well as a normal hearing person. Expecting results from your hearing instruments that cannot be achieved will only lead to frustration and dissatisfaction. By asking your hearing professional questions and describing your experiences, the optimum performance can be reached to match your expectations. The following are some facts: * The extent of improvement to your hearing is directly proportional to the severity and the duration of your loss. * The more severe the hearing loss the harder it will be for the hearing instruments to restore your hearing to near normal. * The longer the duration of your hearing loss the harder it will be for your brain to adjust to the new sounds. WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT FROM HEARING INSTRUMENTS! Jubilee Park, at 194 Niagara Trail, contains a large playground, variety of swings, skateable features, asphalt pathways, benches and plant- ing. It is located beside St. Catherine of Alex- andria School and through partnership with the Halton Catho- lic District School Board, the park shares the green space for a mini soccer field, use of the school's out- door basketball nets as well as a parking lot. Construction commenced in June and was com- pleted in Septem- ber at a cost of $320,000. "This is a terrific green space, thanks in part to the work of local contractor Grade Control Ltd. and the high quality of work they deliver to our projects," said Mayor Rick Bonnette. "Their skilled construction is part of what brings these parks to life and will be enjoyed by residents for years to come. I'm also pleased with the leadership the Town has shown in the design and project management of this neigh- bourhood park." Playpower (Little Tikes) Inc., Newline Skate- parks and Sheridan Nurseries are some of the other main suppliers who contributed to the park development led by Mark Taylor, Land- scape Architect for the Town. Terry Alyman, the Town's Director of Recre- ation and Parks, said the strength of this park devel- opment was the public consulta- tion. "Town staff conducted an open house at the school and on- line surveys to en- gage the public in the park design. We are commit- ted to continue working with neighbourhood residents to en- sure that they are pleased with the outcome and that it meets the needs of the area," said Alyman. The 0.78-hectare site ties into Jubilee Wood- lot, an open space area of existing trees and trail. Future plans for the neighbourhood in- clude trail-surfacing upgrades in Jubilee Wood- lot to improve access and linkages to the park. Town opens new Georgetown park
