Oct. 25th, 10am-5pm & Sun. Oct. 26th, 12 Noon - 4pm YOU & YOUR PET Reece and Fidgit only have each other to depend on in this time of need. They have been together all their lives! Surrendered be- cause their owner had developed medical problems, and could not take the dogs into the residence, it did not help that he was heartbro- ken to surrender the dogs. Reece and Fidgit, although surprised by this turn of events, "soldier on" and have won the hearts of everyone who come into contact with them. Reece is a 10-year old male cocker span- iel, and Fidgit is an 8-year old female beagle whose rotund contours will benefit from a lot more exercise than we are able to give. Dur- ing this extremely stressful turn of circum- stances Reece and Fidgit try to look outward at the world, accepting everyone who comes into their line of vision....gamboling out to- gether they actually seem to leave their cares behind for a while and sniff and scent with gusto! They make you smile and feel protec- tive of them. These dogs have known love and MUST BE ADOPTED TOGETHER; they are strongly bonded and need each other for sup- port as they don't understand what has hap- pened to them or what they have done wrong. This mature engaging little pair need a quiet adult family to spend their lives with, DEFINITELY NO CHILDREN! Call the Shel- ter at 519-833-2287 or e-mail adoptions@up- percredit.com and prepare to be charmed ... we all are. Reece and Fidgit are strongly bonded By JUDITH-ANNE KOLU Upper Credit Humane Society volunteer NHKR was called when Piper and another young cat believed to be her daughter were discovered roaming in Glen Williams. It was obvious from their condition that both moms were struggling to feed themselves and their young kittens which made them easy to apprehend. Piper was thin, matted and exhausted-- she seemed to welcome being caught. After three months in foster care the spark has returned to her beautiful green eyes, her classic tabby coat is silky soft and she is happily a house cat. For a large cat she is gentle when she taps an arm or leg to be noticed, asking politely to be petted. She would like to be a lap cat, to soak up all the attention like a sponge, but she is slightly un- comfortable unless she is encouraged to stay with pets. Piper is also learning to trust people when she is picked up and she will settle lon- ger if chin scratching is included. At night, a corner of the bed is all she requires so she can greet her people with morning requests for pets. She welcomes brushing to keep her coat smooth and nail clipping is easily done because there is no scratching or biting. Sur- prising for a former stray cat, she is not food oriented and has no issues with meeting strangers. Although projecting a calm demeanour Piper enjoys live- ly interactive play time with people-- especially the pur- suit of soft balls. When alone, she is content to entertain herself with bird watching and loung- ing in the sun. She would enjoy a quiet home with adults/older children and perhaps a friendly cat for a new companion. Piper enjoys visitors at Pet Valu, 369 Mountainview Rd. S., during business hours. For more information on adopting Piper and other felines: www.NHKR.ca or Barb, 905- 873-8547. By BARB JOHNSON North Halton Kitten Rescue volunteer Piper loves to be petted REECE (LEFT) AND FIDGIT Butters, named after her big yellow eyes, born in May 2013 is an attractive, black short-haired female, with a dominant personality who is best suited to other submis- sive cats. Butters would fit with an adult family or one with young adults; she would not be tolerant of small children's intrusive attentions. Butters is a "talker", one of the first to greet visitors, loves to be petted but does not like being held in the air. Interested families contact UCHS, 519-833-2287 or adoptions@uppercredit.com Let Butters, butter you up
