The 10-1-1 Raiders skated to a 6-0 tri- umph over the 4-13-1 Chargers to extend their Ontario Junior Hockey League win streak to seven games. Richard Court (2), Steve Hladin, An- thony Marra, Jake Clements and David Perklin scored for the Raiders and net- minder Marc Williams earned his second shutout of the season, making 29 saves. The Raiders hosted the Oakville Blades Wednesday and in a scheduling quirk, the two former division rivals meet again in Georgetown Saturday at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Georgetown led the North York Rangers 6-0 by the mid-point of the contest, but had to hang on to a 7-5 victory as OJHL-leading scorer Steve Hladin completed a four-point night with a last-minute empty-netter. John Adams (3), Francois Cote and newcomer Cle- ments also scored for the Raiders, Marra chipped in three assists and netminder Marc Williams made 30 stops for the win. Head coach & GM Greg Walters add- ed to an already stingy defence by pick- ing up a pair of big 20-year-old blueliners from the St. Michael's Buzzers on Thurs- day as the 6-foot-4, 203-pound Clements and 6-foot-1, 205-pounder Nick Iafrate made their Raider debuts Saturday. In other moves, 20-year-old Connor Andersen was released and rookie Kyle Maksimovich signed with the OHL's Erie Otters. Jr. Rebels denied after late charge A battle for first place ended in con- troversy last week as the Georgetown Rebels lost 20-14 to the host Frank Hayden Huskies in Halton high school junior Tier II division play. The previously unbeaten Rebels twice thought they had crossed the goal line to tie the score in the final minute but were denied by the officials' spotting of the ball. Quarterback Mitch Spence rushed for one GDHS touchdown and connected with Spencer Lahn on a pass play for the other. With the loss, Georgetown's juniors are now tied at 4-1 with Frank Hayden and Iroquois Ridge for top spot in the Tier II loop with a game this Thursday at 1-3 St. Thomas Aquinas in Oakville, followed by a home date to close out the regular season against Iroquois Ridge on Oct. 30.
