The show features 40 rugs that illus- trate the beauty of the rural landscape across Canada and share the stories of how these buildings have had an impact on the artists. The Barn Raising Project is organized by the Huronia Branch of the Hooking Craft Guild in partnership with the Simcoe County Museum. The Helson Gallery is the only venue in the GTA to be hosting the exhibition, which will be on view until Nov. 30. A free exhibition talk and demonstration of rug hooking techniques will be held at the Gallery on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. A display from the Georgetown Rug Hooking Guild in the Sisnett Lobby from Nov. 11-30 will complement the exhibi- tion. Mayor Rick Bonnette says, "I'm pleased to see this celebration rug hook- ing craft in the beautiful venue of the Hel- son Gallery alongside the work of our tal- ented local artisans in the Sisnett Lobby." The Helson Gallery is located at 9 Church St., Halton Hills and is open Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 1-5 p.m. and on Thursdays, 1-8:30 p.m. Ad- mission is free of charge.
