Stephen Baidacoff from Georgetown placed third in the second annual Hawksworth Junior Chef Challenge held in Vancouver. Currently living in Edmonton, Baidacoff came second in the Western finals in June, which allowed him to compete in the finals against seven other contestants from across Canada. It was a black box competition, meaning the chefs did not know what they were cooking until the competition started. This year's black box featured lingcod, clams, chorizo sausage, chocolate, cranberries and pecans. Competition was fierce and despite not coming in first Baidacoff was quite pleased with the quality of the dishes he produced. He is invited to enter to compete next year. Next stop for Baidacoff is a work term at Eleven Madison Park, which has been voted best restaurant in North America.
