The delegation requests that the school name be officially changed to Ethel Gar- diner Public School to recognize the full name of the former trustee and Chair for whom the school was named. According to the Naming Schools policy, a name change requires community con- sultation. The addition of the name "Ethel" to Gardiner Public School reflects a con- cern within the school community that the school's name should be the entire name of the school's namesake "Ethel Gardiner". Gardiner was a former Halton District School Board teacher (1967-1995), trustee for the Georgetown community (1995- 2006) and was elected as Chair of the Board for six consecutive years (1998-2003). She passed away in 2007. All members of the school and George- town community are encouraged to pro- vide input online at gardinerps-renaming@ hdsb.ca by Dec. 1.
