Stop daddy from yelling and hitting mommy. 2. No more bruises or tears. 3. Help my family f eel safe. NEWS Recently retired local physician Don Trant is seeking the nomination to be the Liberal candidate for Wellington- Halton Hills in the 2015 federal election.   The longtime resident of Halton Hills had a 40-year career as a family doctor, hospital Chief of Staff, CEO of George- town hospital and Vice President of William Osler Health Centre, where he oversaw 800 staff. "I'm passionate about Canada and what an extraordinary country we live in" said Trant. "Mary Lou and I have had the privilege of working and raising our four children in this community.  I feel honoured to seek this nomination." Trant is a staunch supporter of uni- versal health care, open democratic pro- cesses, government accountability and better environmental stewardship. "To address climate change, we must be leaders, not followers.  It's in all our best interests," said Trant. "If anybody can win this riding in the next federal election, it's Don," says Halton Hills Councillor Moya Johnson, who ran unsuccessfully in the riding as the Liberal candidate in the 2011 provincial election. "He excels at everything he does, and his ethics and integrity are beyond question." Georgetown's 2012 Citizen of the Year Laurent Thibault is enthusiastic too. "I am thankful that that we have people of Don's calibre willing to tackle the demanding requirements of public service," said Thibault. With three others contending for the local Liberal nomination, Trant and a team of supporters are encouraging those who would support him to join the party at liberal.ca/membership, a requirement for anyone to vote at the nomination meeting. When asked who the other candidates were and when the nomination meeting would be held, Wellington-Halton Hills Federal Liberal Riding Association Presi- dent Matthew Cunnington said, "once all potential candidates have successfully completed the nomination process (hope- fully before the end of the year), I will be sure to communicate names, dates, and all the details of our nomination meeting with The IFP by means of a press release." For more information on Trant email drdontrant@gmail.com, look for Support Dr. Don Trant on Facebook, or call 905-877-1994.
