This notice was first issued in January 2015 Notice of Addendum For the Completion of Simpson Road Municipal Class Environmental Assessment THE STUDY In 2013 the Town of Caledon completed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) for the Completion of Simpson Road. Among other objectives, the Class EA identified the need to complete several missing gaps in Simpson Road from Mayfield Road to north of George Bolton Parkway, as well as the need for drainage improvements and provision of stormwater management for the new roadway. This Addendum to the Class EA will investigate the feasibility and details of stormwater management west of Simpson Rd. between Mayfield Rd. and Parr Blvd., for future employment lands development, which was not explicitly finalized in the Class EA. The Addendum will revise the recommendations made in the Environmental Study Report (ESR) for the Completion of Simpson Rd. The study will evaluate a range of alternative solutions to address stormwater management for this area and consider the potential impacts of alternative solutions on various aspects of the environment. The approximate limits of the project area are illustrated on the key plan. THE PROCESS This study will be undertaken as an addendum to the 2013 ESR. The study is being conducted in accordance with the requirements for a Schedule C project as described in the Municipal Engineers Association's Municipal Class Environmental Assessment document (2011), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The Class EA process will include public and agency consultation, an evaluation of improvement alternatives, an assessment of the potential environmental effects of the proposed improvements and identification of reasonable measures to mitigate any adverse impacts. The addendum will document the need and justification for the work, and detail the changes to the 2013 ESR. A Notice of Filing of Addendum will be provided upon completion of the study, and the Addendum will be placed on public record for a review period of 30 days. Subject to comments received, the Town intends to proceed with the construction phase of this project. COMMENTS AND INFORMATION Comments and information regarding the study are being collected to assist the Town of Caledon in meeting the requirements of the Environmental Assessment Act. This material will be maintained on file for use during the project and may be included in project documentation.
