Crossing guard Marilyn Ducharme was well prepared for this week's frigid temperatures as she worked her 40-minute morning and afternoon shifts at the corner of Duncan and Weber Dr. in front of George Kennedy Public School. Ducharme assumed the crossing duties at the intersection in September after Bill Webb retired following 20 years at that location. She said Tuesday morning's -30C temperature with the wind chill was her coldest day on the job so far. Photo by Eamonn Maher Halton Hills Hydro to begin 2015 tree trimming program Starting this month, Halton Hills Hydro (HHH) will be out trim- ming trees in various areas of town as part of its 2015 line clear- ance program. Halton Hills Council members got a brief lesson in HHH's line clearance program, which runs on a three-year cycle, from HHH President and CEO Art Skidmore at Monday's council meeting. � is year trees in north Georgetown, the north half of downtown Georgetown, Ballina- fad, Terra Cotta, Glen Williams and Limehouse will be trimmed. "We do not butcher or slaugh- ter trees," said Skidmore. "I can assure you that's not what we do but we will look to obtain the clearance that we need. We trim to keep the tree healthy." He explained HHH is mandat- ed by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Electricity Act to maintain minimum clear- ances around its power lines-- 3 metres from primary lines and 1 metre from secondary lines.
