The successful candidate will play an important role on the Engineering Team. Under the direction of the Engineering Supervisor, the successful candidate will design, prepare cost estimates and work order packages for various electricity distribution system projects. The duties for this position will include, but not be limited to, the following: • Design and prepare cost estimates, contracts, and work order packages for various electricity distribution system projects including overhead, underground (for new, rebuild and subdivisions), new service design (residential, commercial, industrial), and obtain all necessary approvals required for construction in accordance with approved standards; • Construction site inspection to ensure work is done in accordance with our Construction Verifi cation Program; gather and maintain fi eld and offi ce records for permanent records; • Monitor progress of projects and prepare reports. • Prepare and provide input in the development of construction standards and material specifi cations; • Supply technical and installation specifi cations to others, including utility personnel, customers, contractors, regulators, road authorities and consultants; • Prepare micro-generation connection projects including project coordination with customers, preparing documentation and contracts, connection estimates, drawings, and updating utility personnel and regulatory agencies as needed; • Assist with asset management programs; • Coordinate and schedule construction of projects with Operations and contractors; • Prepare annual budgetary estimates; • Perform Locator duties in a backup role as required; REQUIREMENTS: • Graduate of a 2-year Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technician program. • Preference will be given to those with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in the engineering fi eld. • Applicants for the position must be registered as a Certifi ed Engineering Technician (C. Tech.) with O.A.C.E.T.T. (or be currently registered as an Associate Member). • Experience with GIS and SCADA systems will be considered an asset. • Good working computer knowledge, including profi ciency with AutoCAD, Excel, Word & Microsoft Offi ce Suite. • Applicants must have an excellent safety record and strong safety awareness. • Applicants must have an exceptional attendance record& proven time management skills. • Dependability: is reliable and can be counted on to complete assigned work within permitted timelines, has the ability to work with minimal supervision. • Problem solving: takes all relevant information into consideration and stresses a collaborative approach to problem-solving. • Adheres to policies and procedures, letters of instruction, and departmental practices. • Must be a highly motivated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with both internal and external clients. • Must possess a valid Ontario Class G Drivers license with a clean driving record.
