The first went to Helene Carle, 13, of Georgetown, who attained a Provincial Gold (Novice Level) at Skate Canada. She began her championship journey with a first place win right here at Mold- Masters SportsPlex, where she won the Central Ontario Championship. This in turn qualified Helene for her second consecutive National Championship at the Skate Canada Challenge elimi- nation round in Pierrefonds, Quebec. With Helene's 14th place finish in Que- bec she advanced to the Skate Canada championships in Kingston where she came home with a well-deserved 14th place finish. The second recipient is Aidan McVeigh, the 2014 Canada East Na- tional Wrestling Novice Champion. Aidan, 11, is a student at Holy Cross Catholic School and is in his second year of wrestling. He has won several gold medals in local and regional wres- tling tournaments. For the second year in a row Aidan won gold at the Canada East National Wrestling Novice Cham- pionships held in St. Stephen, New Brunswick. He was undefeated once again this year, winning the kids divi- sion for Grades 5 & 6. The national level championships are the highest level of achievement for the novice age group with wrestlers representing On- tario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Aidan won all three of his matches to capture the gold. His first round was close when he trailed 7-4 with only one minute remaining-- but he was successful in pinning his opponent for the win. Michael Evans received the Town's Community Honour Award for being a Survivor Ambassador Award recipi- ent and advocate. The Town's Com- munity Honour Award is bestowed upon an individual who demonstrates exceptional qualities of leadership, dedication to the community, and personal achievement by overcoming significant obstacles. Michael, a 19-year-old Acton Dis- trict High School grad, advocates for heart disease awareness by sharing his own personal story. Through the support of his teachers at Acton High School, Michael has set out to tell his story. He has addressed over 30 schools in the Halton and Peel Regions. Due to his continued dedication and advoca- cy, in 2013, Michael received the Heart and Stroke Foundation's Survivor Am- bassador Award, presented to individu- als who by sharing their own personal journey with heart disease, engage and inspire individuals and communities to support their vital mission and ef- forts to save and extend lives. But what can happen is you sign the paperwork on the purchase without having yet sold your existing home in the hopes of selling it sooner or later. Every real estate deal can have conditions, and in order to avoid being on the hook for purchasing a home when you don't have the necessary funds because your existing house hasn't been sold yet, make sure that in your purchase deal you add the condition that the deal is conditional on the sale of your existing home. This simple addition can save a lot of stress and trouble.
