GOOD FRIDAY April 3, 2015 and EASTER SUNDAY April 5, 2015 NEWS 2014 GEORGETOWN CITIZEN OF THE YEAR: Doug Penrice, Chair of the Georgetown Lions' Club Citizen of the Year Committee, presents Fred Helson with the 2014 Citizen of the Year Award at a special banquet in Alcott Heritage Hall at Mold-Masters SportsPlex on Tuesday. Helson, 93, was named earlier this month as Citizen of the Year for his longtime volunteering and philanthropic dedication to the community of George- town. Helson is a longtime supporter of the Georgetown Hospital and in 2011 made $1-million donation to its Foundation. He is a patron of the local arts scene con- tributing to many organiza- tions such as GLT, Globe and others. An avid art collector, in 2013 he donated 105 pieces to the Town of Halton Hills, some of which are on display in the Helson Gallery in the Cultural Centre. Photo by Ray Lavender
