Volunteers are wanted selling daffodil pins at the Real Canadian Superstore in Georgetown and other retail businesses in support of the Daffodil Month campaign. On Feb. 1, unit boundaries changed and the Georgetown area was amalgamated into the Halton Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society. "We are thrilled to be given this opportunity and are looking forward to working with the residents and businesses in Georgetown," said a Halton unit spokesperson. This year CCS volun- teers will be out in the community over two weekends and are look- ing for enthusiastic vol- unteers for the following dates: April 9-12 and April 16-19. Shifts are two hours and you can sign up for one or more to sell daffodil pins for a dona- tion in Georgetown. Thanks to the hard work of volunteers, the Canadian Cancer Society is funding Canada's researchers who work tirelessly towards the next breakthrough in cancer prevention, diag- nosis, and treatment to save more lives. For those battling cancer in the community right now, CCS pro- vides programs such as peer sup- port, transportation and informa- tion. Money raised helps patients and their families living with more than 200 different types of cancer. Volunteering is a great opportunity for you to make a positive impact in your community, meet new people, be part of a dynamic team and learn new skills. If you're interested in volunteering, contact the Halton community office, 905-845-5231 or go to www.halton.myccsschedule.ca and sign up online to sell daffodil pins.
