The cause for this discrepancy is complex. One reason is that most people think that their indoor cat is not exposed to disease. Well, kidney disease, heart disease, diabetes, obesity and arthritis, to name a few, do not require exposure to the outdoors. Also, many people believe that they would be able to tell if their cat was ill. While we understand the logic of this thinking, it is unfortunately not true. Cats are masters of disguise. As prey animals, they have a very strong instinctual drive to hide any signs of illness. Veterinarians are trained to see health, disease and pain in ways that most pet owners are not. This is why veterinarians recommend that even indoor cats have a physical examination at least once a year. Another reason veterinarians treat fewer cats, is that many cat owners experience more difficulty finding, catching and transporting their cat to the vet. It can be very difficult to handle a frightened cat, but we can help. Veterinarians can give pet owners a lot of advice on how to train cats to feel comfortable in a cat carrier and reduce the stress of transportation. We love our cats, lets work together to keep them happy and healthy. The kids swam in the 50m outdoor pool and then enjoyed their time relaxing and playing on the beach and in the ocean. "It was a very valuable experience and everyone has returned stronger physically and mentally, ready for the final phase of our 2014-15 swim season," said Henderson. The Fins have many more events and com- petitions planned between now and July.
