Photo by Ray Lavender Bulldogs host Markham Thursday Winners moving on in PHR event Eleven members of the Halton Hills Minor Baseball Association have qualified for the next round of Major League Baseball's Pitch, Hit & Run challenge following their efforts at the opening event in Acton last weekend. Fifty-eight youths registered for the free com- petition, which was held at Prospect Park in Acton. Following are the top performers in each of the divisions. The qualifiers will compete in the sectional event, to be held in Mississauga about a month from now at an undetermined location. GIRLS 9-10 1.Danielle Townsend (overall champ) BOYS 7-8 Evan Scutt (pitch*, run & overall champ) Owen Gowland (hitting champ) Cameron Barrett (pitching champ*) Owen Chalmers (pitching champ*) * 3-way tie for top spot BOYS 9-10 Noah McCutcheon (pitching & overall champ) Evan Rutherford (hitting champ) Owen Sol (running champ) BOYS 11-12 Jackson Nelson-Alves (hit, run & overall champ) Owen Mattan (pitching champ) BOYS 11-12 Samuel Birk (overall champ) The top three performers in each category will be compared with other sectional winners in their age groups and have a chance to move on to the Team Championship events, to be held at all 30 Major League ballparks. From there, winners can qualify for the Na- tional Finals at the All-Star Game in July. The Halton Hills Bulldogs improved to 5-0 this season with a 12-6 victory over the vis- iting Mississauga Tomahawks Saturday in Ontario Jr. B Lacrosse League action. Connor Brown continued his torrid scor- ing pace with four goals and five assists to key the Bulldogs' attack, with Kyle Moore adding a hat trick and three helpers. Campbell Parker (2), Owen White, Da- kota Rocco and Cam Downey also found the twine for Halton Hills, which outshot the Tommies 42-33. Drayden Patey was the winning netmind- er and is now 4-0 on the season. The 'Dogs also went 3 for 4 on the power play. Next up for the Bulldogs is a home date with the 4-0 Markham Ironheads Thursday at 8 p.m. at the Alcott Arena. The varsity girls also took part in a tournament in Buffalo Saturday against U.S. competition, emerging with a tie and two losses, while the ju- nior varsity squad was at the same event, winning twice and losing the other contest. CtK's varsity girls won by forfeit over Keswick Tuesday in a qualifier and will play in the Trillium Cup provincial championship later this month. In other action, CtK's varsity boys thumped Burlington's Frank Hayden 13-3 Friday on goals by Brock Fagan (3), Bret Swan (3), Zac McInall (2), Evan Perehiniak, Bret McInall, Braidyn Vidler and Nate Ethier.
