COMMUNITY Memorial fundraiser garners $4,353 A benefit concert for three Georgetown natives killed in a Toronto fire in March 2014 raised more than double what or- ganizers had initially hoped. Foyay's Birthday Bash, the nickname of one of the victims, Jordan Boyer, was held at the McGibbon Hotel in George- town two months ago on what would have been his 24th birthday. Two of Boyer's roommates, Alysia Graham and Katie Charron, also per- ished in the blaze, while another local native, Ethan Leal, suffered minor inju- ries. The recipient of the concert's pro- ceeds, totaling $4,353.70, is SKETCH, a community-arts-development initiative based in Toronto engaging young people homeless and on the margins, ages 16- 29, from across Canada. SKETCH established a bursary in the victims' names that will be given out yearly, and the inaugural fundraising goal was set at $2,000.
