TIRE & SERVICE IN BRIEF Acton Royal LePage taps grant Royal LePage Escarpment Realty in Acton was able to tap into the Town's Community Improvement Plan (CIP) to help pay for im- provements made to the building's façade. The program establishes a formal part- nership between the Town and local busi- nesses to improve their facilities. The Town has budgeted $75,000 per year in funding for the CIP program. Royal LePage Escarpment Realty, located on Mill St., installed new windows, doors and front steps. Through the CIP, the Town contributed $4,100, or 50 per cent of the total cost. "We are committed to improving the look of our building both on the outside and in- side and we appreciate the support from the Town for this project," said Steve Fontanna, owner of Royal LePage Escarpment Realty. "The CIP is proving to be an important tool for the Town to assist businesses in making their premises more attractive and efficient; we encourage business and prop- erty owners in the designated areas to sub- mit an application as funds are limited," said Councillor Ann Lawlor. The program targets the downtown areas of Acton and Georgetown and the Guelph Street corridor in Georgetown. In all three areas, funds are provided for exterior façade improvements and conversion of underuti- lized space to either new retail or residential uses. Grants cover 50 per cent of projects costing in the range of $10,000 to $12,500.
