I believe this is merely a thumbnail sketch. Longtime participants as well as occa- sional visitors probably have their own special moments they relish. Here are some selected memories from the past. Some are from long ago and far away. Some are more recent. When the show start- ed, Georgetown was different. The city has grown and prospered. The Classics against Cancer show committee members past and present are proud to been a part of the ride. The first show in 1988: 135 cars partici- pated. It's been said before, the show started from humble beginnings as a 'Strawberry So- cial' with classical music and a group of clas- sic cars combined. It didn't turn out that way. Neil Young opted to have the Classics against Cancer show held separately. Under the Big Tent: As the show grew, some special exhibits were set up as draws to attract attention. Some really beautiful 1920s, 1930 and post war classics were showcased under a couple of tents as exhibition vehicles. They usually were outstanding examples of a particular marquee or model demonstrating a particular era in history. Sometimes there were tent displays for special new models that came out including the Chrysler PT Cruiser and 2003 Ford Thunderbird. Some of the clas- sics under the big tent included a Panther Pink 1970 340 Dodge Swinger, and a 1947 Ford Sportsman. See You at the Races: We've also had our fair share of sporting event cars appear at the show. Past race cars included, Tom and Trish Mc Greer's Subaru WRX rally car, Chuck McK- ee and Don Lethbridge from Canadian Vin- tage Modified Racing. Ron brought down his latest Dodge for display at the 2005 Classics against Cancer show. Canadian Tire Racing has also had their team cars on display. Star Attractions, Hot Music: The music is a big part of the show experience and some of the bands we've had over the years included Men without Hats, Rolly Rocker & the Hemi Heads, Ken Tocher's One Man Band, Choclair and Bishop.
