Halton Healthcare's Georgetown Hospital (GH), which is already an Ontario Breast Screening Program As- sessment site, has recently acquired a Digital Mammography Unit. The hospital unveiled a new mammog- raphy room complete with a new Siemen's Inspiration Digital Mammography system as part of the Georgetown Hospital Redevelop- ment Project. "Digital Mammography allows us to cap- ture the breast image in a digital picture for- mat so we can then review it on a computer," explains Dr. Jillian Feberwee, Halton Health- care's Women's Imaging Lead. "It provides us with the ability to manipulate the image-- adjusting its contrast, brightness and magni- fication levels-- until we get the clearest view. Digital Mammography also has a number of attributes that may help a small breast tumor stand out from surrounding normal tissue."
