'A Show From the Hills' has variety of beautiful, one-of-a-kind work will be on display and for sale. The Credit Valley Artisans were established in 1957 as a supportive, collective of artists that work in a variety of mediums. The CVA is a divided into four guilds: Heritage Hand Weavers and Spin- ners, the Palette and Pencil Guild, the Potters and Sculptors Guild, and the Stained Glass Artisans. A unique selection of work will be on sale from each guild including: original paintings, function- al and decorative pottery, weaving, and stained glass. Come out and meet the artists while you browse the show and enjoy refreshments at the Grand Opening, 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20. The show runs from Aug. 18-29. CVA to exhibit at Beaux Arts ENTERTAINMENT Red Door Gallery's new show Hot Days Cool Art includes work by 15 top Canadian artists. Painting, photography, ceramics, wood sculpture, blown glass, and silk painting are all on show. The work of renowned glass artist Andy Kuntz, for example, has been exhibited in New York, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia and France. His work has been commissioned as gifts from the Canadian Govern- ment to the Premier of China and Prime Minister of Ireland. Small, rustic paintings by artist and film direc- tor Roderik Mayne contrast with the large scale abstract paintings by award winner Eileen Menzel. The show also includes a delicate raven and arresting peregrine falcon, by Woodsculptor Joe Coutts, whose sculpture was commissioned for the G8 Summit in Huntsville in June 2010. Christine Montague's polar bear paintings beautifully balance light and playfulness against the solitude of the icy Canadian landscape. "Buying original art is important," says Red Door's Manager Kate McGowan. "What it says about you is that you see beyond the every day, that you believe culture is important, and that you want to pass those artworks and be- liefs down to your children."
