YOU AND YOUR PET Saffron, Sage and Tarragon were born in April to a stray mom in the Moore Park area of Georgetown. By the time the homeowner who found them contacted NHKR, they were a bit older than most kittens who come into foster care and it was clear they'd had a rough start trying to survive outside. Teaching them to trust and socialize with people took a bit longer, but with patience and persis- tence from their foster family, these kittens have blossomed! They are beautiful brown tabbies with stun- ning markings and thick, soft coats. At 18 weeks, these kittens have had all necessary vaccina- tions, including rabies, and have developed su- perb house manners. Saffron is the leader and is a very smart kitten! She has a big personality and is very attention oriented...she craves human attention and will purr and "talk" to let a human friend know that she would like a cuddle or some play time. Tarragon is a shy boy who is taking a bit longer to come out of his shell. When he is feeling safe and calm, he en- joys being petted although he is wary of being picked up and prefers to interact on his own terms. He is very playful and toys have been a great way to earn his trust in his foster home. Sage is a loving and gentle kitten. She is very trusting and loves to be carried around in some- one's arms. Sage adores hav- ing her belly rubbed and purrs loudly when she can snuggle in for a nap. These wonderful kittens will be showcased during NHKR adoptions at Pet Valu, 369 Mountainview Rd.S., in Georgetown, this Saturday, 1-3 p.m. Some of our other adoptable kittens can be seen this Saturday at Pet Valu, 235 Guelph St., in Georgetown, 1-2 p.m. Info: www.NHKR.ca or Barb, 905-873-8547. By Angela Harris info@nhkr.ca Saffron, Sage and Tarragon are looking for their 'Furever' homes Meeting Tippy you are struck by the fact that she is completely overwhelmed at her circumstances. Strang- ers seem to intimidate her and patience will be the number one criteria of an adopting family. Tippy is a female, tri-co- loured hound/Aussie cross, 18 months old, weighing in at 35 lbs., and was surrendered with one of our other residents, Norm, due to family lifestyle changes. Tippy was bred by her former owner, who kept the puppy when she was not adopted. Tippy's only life experience, thus far, is hav- ing the run of a farm and living in a barn. Tippy has had no socialization, presents as very, very insecure and lacks confidence; the Shelter is not a farm and being inside the building fills her with apprehension! If you can get past all of the above, Tippy's basic nature is sweet and non-aggressive; even though frightened as I (a stranger) approached her she just cowered; turned her head away; with no sign of ag- gression. Sweet, loving Tippy captures your heart immediately! She will need a VERY PATIENT adult home or with older children who would give her the space she needs as she learns the ropes of how to live in a family home as family. Tippy would definitely benefit from living with another friendly, confident dog which is a high priority requirement. Tippy is fine with other dogs. In fact she blossoms out on the tennis courts, running with her companion Norm; she becomes play- ful and for those joyous moments her cares seem to melt away. Tippy displays medium energy, is working on leash walking; really en- joys lying in the water in the kiddie pool to cool off. Tippy has so much potential as one of our walkers stated that after only two meetings Tippy greets her with a happy wagging tail! So if you are the type of family who would like to welcome a dog that is almost a "blank slate" and you have the time and commitment to help Tippy reach her potential; you will be rewarded with a very sweet, loving dog as her confidence grows. Interested families please call the Shelter at 519-833-2287 or e-mail adoptions@uppercredit. com to come and meet this timid, full of potential young lady. Tippy is completely overwhelmed By Judith-Anne Kolu info@uppercredit.com Special adoption fees are in place at the Upper Credit Humane Society until August 15. Adult cats (+1 year) $120 Senior cats (+8 years) $60 Small animals $10 Prince (left) has been in the Shelter for almost a year. SAFFRON TARRAGON SAGE
