Cycling tour makes stop in Georgetown Georgetown will host the fifth day of the six-stop Great Waterfront Trail Adven- ture today (Thursday) as the cycling tour along the new 475-km Greenbelt Route winds its way through rural Ontario. Cyclists will rest up with a layover at the Gellert Centre before embarking on the penultimate leg of the tour with a sendoff ceremony at the Royal Canadian Legion in Georgetown today at 7 a.m. This year's special edition of the GWTA allows participants to be among the first to ride the new Greenbelt Route, which spans seven regions and 27 com- munities including Halton Hills. "It is very exciting to have the new 475 km Greenbelt Route run through Halton Hills. We are thrilled to host the group of cyclists as they lay over in George- town at the Gellert Centre," said Halton Hills Councillor Jane Fogal, Chair of the Town's Active Transportation Commit- tee and the Bicycle Friendly Community Committee. "The Great Waterfront Trust is to be commended for their tremen- dous leadership in bringing the vision of a Greenbelt cycling route to fruition."
