See pg. 8 An arrest has been made in con- nection to a string of armed rob- beries around the Toronto area that included the hold-up of a Georgetown convenience store early Saturday morning. Halton Regional Police re- ported Monday morning that a suspect was apprehended on the weekend by Durham Regional Police during another robbery at- tempt in Durham Region. At approximately 2:15 a.m. Saturday, a lone male suspect en- tered the Mac's Convenience store at Guelph St. and Delrex Blvd. in Georgetown. According to Halton Police, this suspect, who was armed with a handgun, approached the clerk inside the store and demanded cash and cigarettes. The clerk complied and turned over a quan- tity of money and cigarettes before the man fled on foot. The store clerk was not injured, police said. Another Mac's Covenience on Upper Middle Rd. in Burlington was held up at around 4 a.m. Sat- urday and investigators believe the same suspect was involved in both incidents, along with others in Milton and seven more in the GTA. Charged with nine counts of robbery with a weapon, nine counts of disguise with intent, nine counts of possession of weapons dangerous and nine counts of use imitation firearm is Naji Dawood, 22, of Etobicoke.
