Parking restrictions on High St. will already nega- tively impact the commu- nity centre, Rutherford said. And become a massive frus- tration for the community, as the centre was the focus of volunteer elbow grease and out of pocket dona- tions to revive it. "The people in the community have put a ton of effort into it," Rutherford said. The centre was also the subject of an OMB decision that declared it would get overflow parking on High St., he said. Isabella restrictions became a concern to a number of residents because of the changes it would require to routines that are community norms. Resident John Hayes explained that Isabella has never been the subject of a complaint, and two-way traffic on it is required so locals have an option for a unique circumstance in Terra Cotta. The grades of the roads can be up to 67 per cent in some areas, he said, and in the win- ter, access from the north side of Isabella is the only way residents can get to their homes. "To take steps to affect Isabella when there have been no issues on it, does not make sense at all," he said. Rutherford also said the process presented by the town upset locals. The public meeting held by the town was welcomed, as residents expected to discuss the issue. Instead, he said, they were presented four options of restrictions and told to pick one. "None of them were acceptable," he said. The residents also took the time to measure the roadways and present their own option that would continue some parking on High St. and not affect Isabella, and did not hear back from staff. Caledon council amended the motion to include a no parking prohibition on the north side of High St., from Isabella to King, and made High St. an eastbound one way. Isabella was maintained as a two-way street with parking on High St. set to be reviewed in one year. Parking issue in Terra Cotta Continued from page 11
