Plein Air and Paint-Out events planned in Norval on Saturday The public is invited to join the Plein Air painters from the Ontario Plein Air Society (OPAS) and lo- cal painters as they find their favourite spot to paint in the community of Norval on Saturday, Aug. 22. With a rich history and scenic location on the Credit River, the community of Norval is the per- fect spot for plein air painting. Norval offers art- ists the natural beauty of the Willow Park Ecology Centre in the Silver Creek watershed along with ar- chitectural and historic sites of interest. Local trea- sures include historic cemeteries and churches such as the Presbyterian Church and Manse which was the home of Lucy Maud Montgomery from 1926--1935. The host venue, Carter Farms also offers wood- land, meadow, pasture, and river locations for painting. This day is NOT just for more experienced art- ists! Younger artists are invited to come down to Willow Park Ecology Centre where they can reg- ister for their own PAINT-OUT event and receive instructions and materials to create a masterpiece using paints, crayons, pencils, pastels, or a combi- nation of any media. Not only kids are invited to paint, but everyone who would like to try their hand at outdoor paint- ing without the pressure of competition can regis- ter at Willow Park. If you just want to watch the painters as they work or have a BBQ lunch at Carter Farms or may- be purchase one of the paintings that have been created that morning, come down to Norval and check out the latest community venture. Refreshments will be available for a minimal cost at Carter Farm (BBQ lunch, drinks, and ice cream). IF YOU WANT TO JOIN THE OPAS CHALLENGE: • Registration and exhibition location: Carter Farms, 9880 Winston Churchill Blvd., Norval, www.carterfarms.ca • Registration: 8:45-9:30 a.m. Painting starts at 9:30 a.m. Medium of your choice. • 12:30 pm: You must be back at the registration area to prepare your work for judging.
