The Town provided $4,300 in matching fund- ing through the Community Improvement Plan for this project. This success story really illustrates what positive changes result from the program and how it can help to transform the downtown core. Heather Brownridge, owner of the bakery said, "The new look of our storefront allows for cus- tomers to be greeted by an attractive and warm façade which mirrors the warmth and comfort we want people to feel when they visit our bakery." The CIP establishes a formal partnership be- tween the Town and local businesses to improve their facilities. The Town has budgeted $75,000 per year in funding for the program. "We are happy to work with the business community, this program provides the funds to improve local business and creates increased assessment in the designated areas," said Mayor Rick Bonnette. The program targets three specific areas of Halton Hills: the downtown areas of Acton and Georgetown and the Guelph Street Corridor in Georgetown. In all three areas funds are provided for exterior façade improvements and conversion of underutilized space to either new retail or resi- dential uses. Grants range from $10,000 to 12,500 based on the extent of the project.
